Something forgotten of the core See withered life wash up at your door For some the clouds never seem to part With grace that can take on any shape She nurtures through the day Signals of her ancient web so jumbled Usurp the animating breath of our tomorrow Begging a beggar to pay back the fortune that he’s borrowed Oh, can somebody hear me? I hope that someone out there can understand Right now I need a helping hand Feels her back against the back Waiting for a clarion call To cut through the lulling, glamorous din The toxic waste has spilled its paint through every scene of her every day The basis of life left shivering in the corner Can we not see the back room’s sacrificial altar? Crowning our greed while turning Our mother into a martyr Oh, can somebody hear me? I hope that someone out there can understand Right now I need a helping hand The moment you need the most See the chips roll on in Maybe learn from our mistakes Maybe flood, fires, and earthquakes Either way time is running out, ooh I know that you can hear me, I hope that everyone will understand Right now I need a helping hand Oh, my body’s blistering and I don’t Know how much more that I can stand So right now I need a helping hand Right now I need a… The moment you need the most Is the moment we need The moment we need the most Is the moment you need The moment you need the most Is the moment we need The moment we need the most Is the moment you need Can you hear me, yeah? I hope you can hear me I hope you can hear me, yeah

Feel it All 05:05
I’m sorry for the blind eye I have cast Chasing rainbows through the ashes Of a long and bitter past I was waiting for the world To accept me as I am Now I’m struggling how to accept Where we’re going to land I love it how the trees reach for the sky And the geese along the pathway eat And let me pass them by But the rug beneath these wonders Of the world keep getting pulled Are they struggling how to accept Where they’re going to? I don’t want to wait For a tragedy to bring my gaze To where it needs to be A million digital displays But the wound is already open So why not feel it all? Standing at the pump and feelin’ Like I’ve got this blood on my hands Just living life the way we understand A tank of petro The cost is so much more Than any wallet can hold I want to live With a broken heart But this distraction Keeps pulling me Pulling me From who I am meant to be End of the rainbow Its color flashes From within the ashes I don’t want to wait For a tragedy to bring my gaze To where it needs to be A million digital displays But the wound is already open The cries are trying to get in They’re begging me to thin my skin And feel It all...

Turn Back 06:40
Multiplying now our indecision Trying to forget of this collision Drills and leasing Stocks increasing Every time I look the other way Another bandit’s come to seize the day And selling pipe dreams Crude with bright sheen Down Keep it down Screaming sound In the ground Phantoms unleashed Covering our new world Fragments of life Our Holocene left here to unravel Yeah.. Dissociation’s shadows awaken Take on a life of their own But so do those willing To wake to the feeling Of losing our only home Up Interrupt Truths abrupt Turn it up Spirits unleashed Honoring a faded world Restoring life Anthropocene for us to dismantle Oh, last night it rained And it cleared the ashes from the sky But this still feels like home Even as we go into the unknown Before we are lost for good Let’s witness this ‘til it’s understood Our facades are crumbling through and through I have something to ask of you Can you say it just for once Say it just for once We are mistaken? Can you say it just for once Say it just for once Our ship is sinkin’? And I do not wish vengeance on you We’re all part of the problem, too But before our last chance is through I have something to ask of you Can you say it just for once Say it just for once We’re on the wrong track? Can you say it just for once Say it just for once We’d better turn back? Turn back, oh Turn back Oh, ooh, yeah, oh

By a Thread 04:56
By a thread She scales a wall nine miles tall They built on children’s beds While fixing jam and bread Hanging by a thread She climbs up To help us through the night To sunrise All her moves Impeccable as raven calls And spacecraft orbits, too Grateful that she knew What we need to do To rise up And make it through the nights With bright eyes Jet set cabal flights of fancy Never fail to make her antsy Precise angles Unminced words Nimble as a hummingbird By a thread She builds a hall for one and all To dream the world anew Grateful that she flew On fancies pure and true To rise up We’ll rise up By a magically woven thread Hanging by a thread..

Wishing Well 05:44
Direction of her fate Keeps slipping through my hands Reverberating pain With everyone who understands The mystery Her memory Surviving all this violence It brings me to my knees And sighing in her defense Could the bull fall to tears To see something so beautiful? And let us grab a broom To sweep the shards upon the floor? As far as you’ve gone Still isn’t too late You know we all make mistakes Wishing well Break this spell So time won’t tell For us The caption Inaction Lose traction Reaction The dawning Responding Informing The longing Could the bull wake from dream And hear his deafening noise? And let us whisper away The golden chain of all his ploys? As far as we’ve gone Might not be too late To put an end to this mistake The depths inside Hold more than Anyone’s come to expect from you So let the coin settle Into the pool And shine, ooh (Dance with me) Wishing well Break this spell So time won’t tell For us, yeah Wishing well Break this spell So time won’t tell For us Oh, ooh

Hot wind Wrong time Steamrollin’ towards midnight It doesn’t have to come But can we heed the signs? Slow breath Clear sky Offer up my inside Show us how to help And turn the tide Mother Nature’s son Broke down on the run Turning back to join The fight Night falls Deep sleep Intentions our souls keep Help us to wake up Before the time We’ve past all The warning signs Mother Nature’s daughter Stands beside the water Tryin' to turn us back From midnight Last call Climb steep Harness what our souls keep Actions and our thoughts All aligned Slow breath With the warning Warning signs, ooh

Yo Jason I got you.. Graphic Grim in the building.. Don’t forget your parachute (laughs) Far from the best spot to jump Fuel low, it’s time to get off Miles of sky beneath And sky above Hands of those in line Give me a shove I guess I could be thrilled by this descent But our landing gear’s never been tested But for now I am one with the sky, ooh I hope these parachutes open Before we reach The ground Safe and Sound? Like awakened from a dream My mind’s so alive Sensory overload on the dive Thirty thousand feet Go by in a rush (A rush, a rush, a rush) But we’re all in the same boat now But we’re all in the same fall now For far too long we put landing off Our heads in the clouds But now it’s time to make up This distance through the sky, ooh Just give one more chance to put my feet on The ground C’mon dance with me, girl We’ll take a break beat And try to stop the end of the world C’mon dance with me, girl Let anybody try to stop us, uh Hear the lies around us whirl We’ll take a break-a-beat And try to stop the end of the world C’mon dance with me, girl Through the fire let them try to catch us Graphic Grim.. Come and dance with me Act like you got a chance to leave But we advancing speeds So fast, might crash at seas Into a nasty siege Cause a ghastly scene Smoke from the engine Too bad to breathe Plane's goin' down It's maddening People freakin' out that it's actually happening Screamin' it's gonna be a tragedy But magically, you're glad to see it’s me Graphic Grim and Jason Murray Flew in, in an amazin' flurry Come on, let's get out this place in a hurry Cause you need rescue that's absolute So as you fall to the ground, you pray for your parachute To open.. Sea levels risin’ Where’s the soul? Seems like we’re spinnin’ out of control, but All that I know is it’s a lonely sight.. And the night Keeps getting darker And the light Is getting harder to find Momentum’s building Still we’re wasting Time’s not on our side Trees and pavement approach I grab onto the cord Frayed by generations of our apathy But with these remaining threads So many lives have dedicated I give it one hard pull Crossroads of a collective fool But there’s no turning back now, No turning back now, No turning back now I hope these parachutes open Before we reach The ground (panting) (sigh)

Late Bloomer 03:55

about

The songs for this album were written and produced over about a year. This collection of songs is the result of a long-held wish to make an album that explores themes around the climate crisis.

The album was recorded, mixed, and produced in my bedroom studio, and mastered by the amazing Tom Capek at Colorado Sound Studios in Westminster, CO.

First and foremost, huge thanks to my parents David and Patricia Murray, whose generosity made it possible for me to dedicate the amount of resources and time into this project that I did, and without which this album would've have taken much longer. Thanks to my Dad also for the beautifully reworked Goya guitar used on this album. Thanks to my brother Christian, who gave me the computer and Ableton software I used for this and my previous album. Thanks to Rayleigh Rask for generously giving his nice mics, stands, and cables, which helped me obtain better results in the recording process. Thanks to Daniel Luthjohn for kindly giving his nice studio monitors to help the mixing process.

Special thanks to Bob Reganess for the sage advice and words of encouragement as I was embarking on this project. Big thanks to Graphic Grim, aka Cisco Mendoza, of Las Vegas, NM, for swiftly and generously lending his amazing rap skills to "Parachutes." His rap was the quickest and most flawless thing that happened on this album, lol.

There are also several people I'd like to thank who helped me develop my mixing skills during the course of the album. Daniel Luthjohn in Longmont, who gave lots of great advice on EQ, compressors, reverb buses, etc. Chicago-based producer Michael Downing of Signal-to-Noise, who helped me restore the dynamic range of the album by pointing out the need to leave more headroom for mastering and to boost the vocals. Tommy Von in Denver, for always generously being there when I have a question, showing me how to work with Ableton, and his helpful advice on best preparing the mixes for mastering. Josh Shirt in Ft. Collins, for the timely advice on working with compressors during the mixing process.

Big thanks to Tom Capek at Colorado Sound Studios for the beautiful mastering job, his generosity with his time and knowledge, and the Chipotle. He got more juice from the final mixes than I knew they had in them, and it was great getting to see a seasoned pro at work. Thanks to Jess Lambert for helping make the session a reality.

Big thanks to Brian Paul Smith at Boulder Fine Art Reproduction, for generously providing a high quality art scan of the album cover and bringing his keen eye to some really nice edits for the final image.

Thanks to the Boulder-in-the-Round songwriting workshop crew, who helped keep me motivated and focused to write the songs that became this album. Thanks to Karin & Pedro DiGiacomo for all the generosity, company, and wide-ranging music conversations. I'd also like to thank everyone who gave a word of encouragement or asked how the album was coming along. It meant a lot!

And thank you to everyone supporting my music.
